Cow Harbor Day and 10K

A look at upcoming events and activities in Northport.

Happy Monday, Northport. Cow Harbor Day is coming up this weekend. Are you ready? Here's a look at what else is happening this week in town.

The Great Cow Harbor 10K Race
About 5,500 runners will take their place at the starting line Saturday for the 2013 Great Cow Harbor 10-Kilometer Run. More than 25,000 spectators are expected to attend. The race starts at 8:30 a.m. at the Laurel Avenue School on Laurel Avenue. Click here to visit the Cow Harbor 10K Race website for runner details.

Cow Harbor Day

Cow Harbor Day Begins Sunday with the traditional parade down Main Street at noon. The parade will feature local bands, floats, sport teams, high school marching bands, antique cars and the Northport Trolley. Immediately following the parade, Main Street is closed to traffic until 5 p.m.  In the Harbor Park, the festivities range from amusement rides, live music, vendors, boating contests and barbecue style food. Local vendors fill Main Street offering food and goods to thousands.

Eaton's Neck Youth Club Registration
Eaton's Neck Youth Club Basketball registration is now open. Head to Laurel Ave School on Sept. 18 or Sept 26 between 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. to sign up, or on Oct 4, between 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

Pickle Festival
The 34th annual Greenlawn-Centerport Historical Association's Pickle
Festival is set for Saturday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at the John Gardiner Barn at 900 Park Avenue in Huntington. The association is promising more barrels of pickles than last year.  Overlapping the festival, at the corner of Park Avenue and Little Plains Road, is one next door, by the Developmental Disabilities Institute, from 10-3 p.m. at 25 Little Plains Road.
