Coming Up: Jen Chapin Performs; New LIRR Holiday Schedule

Happy Monday, Northport. Here's a look at what's coming up this week in town:

Jen Chapin Performs
Jen Chapin, daughter of Harry Chapin, made most famous for his hit, "Cats in the Cradle," will perform Friday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church (270 Main St., Northport) during an Open Mic night, which starts at 8 p.m. Ticket are $10 and can be purchased by calling 631-663-3038.

New LIRR Schedules for Holiday
The Long Island Rail Road is changing service schedules starting Monday and running through Feb. 23. Schedules feature extra trains for the Christmas and New Year's holidays including, early afternoon trains departing Penn on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve; extra trains into New York City for New Year's Eve; and extra early morning trains New Year's Day for those returning from the City. Blood Drive Sunday at the Paramount
Donors to a blood drive Sunday at the Paramount will be entered into a drawing for a pair of tickets to Super Bowl XLVIII. Donors at the Paramount drive will also receive one free general admission ticket to see tribute band Jessie's Girl, featuring Constantine Maroulis, on Jan. 3. 

Basic Star Tax Exemption Deadline Dec. 31
New York State now requires all resident homeowners currently receiving the STAR exemption to register with the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance. Homeowners must register by Dec. 31. If you have not received notification in the mail, you should visit www.tax.ny.gov.and click on the “Register for STAR” box. You will need your STAR access code to register. If you do not know your code, you can look it up online or contact the Tax Department at 1-(518) 457-2036.
