Coming Up: East Northport Tree Lighting; Hanukkah Celebration

A look at upcoming events and activities in town.

Happy Monday, Northport. Still in a Thanksgiving food coma? Here's a quick look at activities coming up in town to get you moving again.

East Northport Tree Lighting and Santa Visit
At 6 p.m. Monday, the East Northport Chamber of Commerce will hold a Christmas tree lighting at the East Northport Long Island Rail Road train station (10th Ave., East Northport). The annual tradition includes caroling, holiday treats and a visit from Santa aboard an East Northport Fire Department truck. Music will be provided by the Pulaski Road School fifth grade Chorus and the East Northport Middle School Brass Ensemble.

Hanukkah Celebration at Northport Harbor

At 6:45 p.m. Monday, the East Northport Jewish Center will hold a group menorah lighting at the Northport Harbor. The temple's rabbi and cantor will provide blessings and songs to celebrate the Festival of Lights. Chocolate gelt will be handed out to attendees. It will be the sixth night of Hanukkah.

IB Open House
Ninth and 10th grade students in the Northport-East Northport School District, and their parents, are invited to attend and explore the IB Diploma and Certificate Programs at Northport High School Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the High School's large cafeteria.  An overview of the IB Program including presentations from current senior candidates and IB Alumni will be given.  Open the memo below for more detailed information and go to the NHS webpage - Instructional Programs - International Baccalaureate to access a program brief and the 2013-2014 IB Student & Parent Handbook. 

Eaton's Neck Fire Department Christmas Tree Sale and Food Drive
The Eaton's Neck Fire Department will hold a Christmas tree sale and food drive Dec. 7 and 8 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.Residents are also being contribute to the Ecumenical Lay Council of Northport Food Pantry. Collection bins will be at the fire house, located at 55 Eaton's Neck Rd., Northport.
