Volunteer members of the USCG renewed their oaths.

The Auxiliary, Division 22, held their "Change of Watch" ceremony at the Huntington Yacht Club Sunday. Division 22 covers the North Shore from Oyster Bay to Mt. Sinai.

Among those renewing their oaths of office were Gene Kinney and Edward McGee, both of Flotilla 22-2, Northport; and Steve Dejuri and Adam Bolender, both of Flotilla 22-7, Fort Salonga.

Both Commanding Officer of Steven Pollock, and Commander Eric Doucette of Sector Long Island Sound headquartered in New Haven attended.

Steve Dejuri  was named Flotilla Commander of the Ft. Salonga-based flotilla for CY2011.

Bolender was also elected 2011 Vice Flotilla Commander of Flotilla 22-7 of  Ft. Salong. Flotilla 22-7 is the only auxiliary flotilla in the nation to have a band at a meeting at Crossroads Cafe Tuesday.

Bolender has been a member since 2009, served as flotilla treasurer in 2010 and was recipient of the 2010 Flotilla 22-7 'Auxiliarist of the Year' award.

Bolender is an accomplished AuxChef, recently qualified as an Auxiliary Instructor and is in the boat-crew training program. He is  pursuing a degree in Emergency Services Administration at Adelphi University in preparation for being more active in the Department Of Homeland Security, FEMA and/or the Coast Guard Reserve.
