An Easter Surprise From Northport Rotary
Northport Rotary donates Easter baskets to the Ecumenical Lay Council Food Pantry.
Waking up on Easter morning to baskets filled with candies and chocolates and plastic grass is something many recall fondly from childhood.
Thanks to the, children of underprivileged families in the area have the same wonderful surprise come Easter Sunday, which falls on April 24 this year.
At a recent Rotary meeting, members prepared 45 baskets brimming with chocolate bunnies and eggs, candy, jelly beans, colorful marshmallow Peeps and other goodies, President Dana Sydney said.

The food pantry is always in need of juice boxes, paper goods, produce, canned or dry goods, supermarket gift cards or funds and will continue to have demand following the holiday, according to Director Sally Stark. The pantry is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon.
