The Whitman Wildcats will square off against League II rivals the Northport Tigers in the 4th annual Coaches vs. Cancer doubleheader basketball classic in the Northport High School gym Friday night.
The 7-1 Tigers face the 7-1 Whitman Wildcats for first place in League II at 5 p.m. The undefeated 8-0 Northport Boys play the 5-2 Whitman Wildcats at 7 p.m. Last year, the Whitman girls basketball team broke a 15-year losing streak against Northport, 48-41, a victory fans hailed as "the end of the curse."
Girls and Boys teams from the Eatons Neck Basketball League will play at half time of both games. The Northport Tigerettes dance team will perform during half times as well.
This is an annual fundraiser for the American cancer Society. All donations at the door, concessions, t-shirts and raffles will go to the ACS.
