The top-seeded Northport High School boys basketball team defeated No. 8 Floyd, 63-45, Tuesday in a Suffolk Class AA quarterfinal, according to Section XI.
Despite its seed, Northport moves on to face No. 12 Longwood at Longwood. Why? Because Longwood and its cavernous gym is the predetermined host of the semifinals and championship game.
"Can't protest a site for a game," Northport Athletic Director Drew Cronin told Patch. "I spoke at length with my coach and he feels comfortable with the arrangement."
