Playoffs: Northport Boys Basketball Beats Longwood

Suffolk AA semifinal game a near upset on Friday.

Top-seeded Northport Boys Basketball beat No. 12 Longwood 51-47 on Friday night in the Suffolk Class AA semifinals.

The game was a near upset, according to Newsday, as the Tigers stayed behind until the fourth quarter when they finally reached a tie.

Forward Matt Milligan made a defensive rebound and two points on a foul after Senior Guard Matt Smith scored a layup to give Northport the lead in the fourth quarter.

Northport will square off against No. 3 Deer Park for the county championship game on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. The game will once again be held at Longwood.
