Tigers participate in the "Great American Rivalry" game, but fall short in the end.

The Northport Varsity Football team fought hard but came up short on Friday night in a 34-20 loss at Fred Fusaro Stadium.

In a game that honored scholar athlete Matt Nicolai, the Northport Tigers held an explosive Sachem offense to just 14 points in the first half and kept the game within a touchdown up until the final 1:23 of the game.

Conor Quinn threw for 76 yards, but did all his work on the ground with 156 yard rushing and three touchdowns on the night. Ken Radigan had three catches for 57 yards.

The game was part of the U.S. Armed Forces' "Great American Rivalry" series and the players got a chance to meet with members of the Marines in a special pre-game ceremony.

Patch was at the game to catch all the action. Browse the photo gallery to see the team.
