Rotary Club of East Northport's 'Walking for Water'

The will host its third annual 'Walking for Water' event Saturday, March 19.

Participants should gather at the at 8:30 am. The walk spans a distance of 2.3 miles from the Northport Train Station  to Cow Harbor Park on the water in Northport.

There is no registration fee, and the route is is stroller-accessible.  Girl Scout Cadettes of Troop # 91 of East Northport have teamed up with the Rotary for this event, and rain barrels which can be used to recycle water, some of which have been painted by the girls, will be for sale.
There will also be event t-shirts for sale. Contributions will benefit a local project as well as the organization, Pure Water for the World.

The Rotary of East Northport initiated this event in this area to join up with hundreds of others across the world in homage to the fact that in 'water-stressed' countries, such as Haiti, Nicaragua and Honduras, women and children walk from 3 to 6 miles every day to obtain clean water for their families.

The Rotary also wishes to increase awareness of the need, both on a global and local level, to conserve and protect our water supplies.
