Photos: Crab Meadow Comes Alive For Warrior Run

Inaugural 4 mile race supports wounded veterans.

Over 650 runners gathered at on Saturday morning to participate in the inaugural 4-mile "Warrior Run" sponsored by the Cow Harbor Warriors, a nonprofit group in support of injured veterans.

The run started at Crab Meadow Beach Park and traveled a flat course along , turning up a hill through a quiet neighborhood, and continuing along the rolling bluffs overlooking Northport Harbor, then back downhill to a flat finish back at Crab Meadow Beach.

East Northport's Travis Tate, 35, won the race at 23 minutes, 39.7 seconds. Nancy Aboff, of Lloyd Harbor, was the top female finisher with 27 minutes and 24.7 seconds. See additional race results here.

The run is one in a series of events for "Wounded Warrior Weekend" in Northport Sept. 7-9. Injured veterans from the tri-State area and their families can also participate in a fishing tournament, a golf tournament, adaptive sports, and a clambake fundraiser to raise awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project.
