Tell Us: School Budget Cuts?

Staying within the two percent cap presents a major challenge for schools this year.

School districts have begun the difficult process of tackling the school budget under Cuomo's two percent cap, and many cuts that were held at bay last year are posing a more grave challenge.

Northport-East Northport School District, for example, estimates that it will have to make over $4 million in cuts to stay within the cap, largely due to inescapable state mandates. Schools, and the community, have until spring to decide what stays and what goes.

If it were up to you, what would you do? What would you cut, what would you save? Would you vote to exceed the cap?
