Snow Causes Early Release for Northport Schools

After-school activities, SCOPE and afternoon kindergarten are canceled.

Students in the Northport-East Northport School District will be released early from classes Thursday due to snowy roads and an impending blizzard, the school superintendent announced.

"Due to the hazardous road conditions as reported by our district bus drivers and the Governor's warning, there will be an early release of students today, Thursday, January 2nd," Marylou McDermott said in a statement on the district's website.

All after-school and evening activities, including the SCOPE program, are canceled. There will also be no afternoon kindergarten.
