Northport Student Art Work to Represent New York State

High School sophomore's flag design to be featured at national art conference

Northport High School sophomore Quinn Pace had her flag design selected to represent New York State as part of the 2013 National Youth Art Month celebration in March.

Quinn’s design will be converted into a 4 x 6 flag that will fly first at the National Art Education Association Annual Conference in Fort Worth, Texas and then in Washington DC with the other national flag winners from across the United States.

A smaller version of the flag will be sent to Northport High School to fly during the month of March.

Youth Art Month is a national celebration sponsored by the Council for Art Education, the National Art Education Association, and locally by the New York State Art Teachers Association. Established in 1961, Youth Art Month provides a forum to support art education because it develops self-esteem, appreciation of the work of others, self-expression, cooperation with others, and critical thinking skills.

Congratulations to Quinn and to her teacher, Constance Wolf.
