Interim Principal Hired at Harley Primary

Lynn Burke joins Elwood School District following early Nov. death of former Principal Maryann Llewellyn.

Lynn Burke has been hired as the new interim principal of Harley Avenue Primary School in Elwood School District following the sudden death of former Principal Maryann Llewellyn at the beginning of November.

Burke joins Harley by way of the Port Jefferson School District, where she held the position of elementary school principal. Following her retirement in 2009, she served as interim principal in the Islip School District. With 18 years of teaching experience and 17 years of administrative experience, Burke has both the knowledge and experience needed for a successful year in at Harley.

“My goal is to provide continuity for the children and staff in moving ahead with
all building initiatives,” said Burke. “I look forward to working closely with the district office and Harley staff, children and parents for the remainder of this year. I understand the importance of creating bonds within the school community and working together for the benefit of the children.”
