When young children (Pre- K through third grade) are home from school for the April 9-13 spring break, they’ll find plenty of fun and creativity at the Suffolk County Vanderbilt Museum. Four different programs will be offered that week. They include an educator-led tour of the museum collections and animal-habitat galleries for inspiration. Workshops include Mummy Masks, Madeira Mosaics, Cat Masks and Gyotaku T-shirts. A special Earth Day craft program for Pre-K and Kindergarten children, Bottlenose Dolphin Planters, is planned for Sunday, April 22.

Special Spring-Break Hours: Closed Easter Sunday, April 8. On Saturday, April 7, and Monday, April 9, through Sunday, April 15, the mansion, marine museum, natural-history exhibits and grounds are open Monday-Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday noon to 5:00 p.m.

Children in grades 1-3 are asked to bring a bag lunch. Registration is required for all workshops, which run from 10:00 to 1:00. Fee: $25 per class, $20 for members. To register or to get more information, call (631) 854-5539.
