Speaker Series -- Women in Long Island History

In celebration of Women’s History Month, the Northport Historical Society will kick off its 2011 Speaker Series on Sunday, March 27th with “Women in Long Island History,” presented by Professor Natalie Naylor. The presentation will provide an overview of the role of women throughout the history of Long Island.  From the earliest colonial settlements and the Revolution through the birth and ongoing growth of a new nation, women have played an integral part in the development of Long Island.  Their religious, civic and community activities will be included.  Long Island women who gained national reputations will feature in the discussion, as well as those women who were important in a local capacity.  A question and answer session will conclude the program.
