SHANTY (Shelter the Homeless and Needy this Year), the Students for 60,000's annual fundraising event where students spend a night sleeping in a cardboard box to understand the plight of the homeless, is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, November 10th at 6 pm at Northport High School, Laurel Hill Road.
Prior to the November 10th event, members of this popular Northport High School club solicit sponsorships in support of their efforts. Funds raised from SHANTY are used to support local charities such as homeless shelters, food pantries and other organizations that serve the needy.
The fundraiser began in the early 90's and students generally raise a minimum of $100 each. Donations can still be made via http://sf60k.org/index.php?page=donate
