It's Complicated...a communication workshop for mothers and their teenage daughters

Youth Directions & Alternatives (YDA) is a private non-profit 501©3 community and youth agency that serves youth aged 11 to 21 in the Northport /East Northport, Harborfields and Elwood School Districts. YDA was established in 1972 in order to provide comprehensive services to youth through an accessible neighborhood based agency.  In 2011, we served over 1,700 different youth.  We are recipients of funding from the New York State Office of Children and Family Services, the Northport/East Northport School District, the Townwide Fund of Huntington and local community organizations.

As part of our ongoing commitment to develop programs and services designed to meet the needs of the community, YDA in partnership with Laura L. Marr, LCSW of Northport Therapy and Counseling Services, is excited to offer a free mother/daughter group entitled  It‘s Complicated.  The early teenage years can be a frustrating time for both mothers and daughters often involving many tears and unrest.  To better help ease this transition,  It’s Complicated will focus on enhancing the important skills and vital connections necessary for opening the lines of communication and promoting healthy dialogue.

The group will meet for ten weeks on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 to 7:00 pm on the following dates:
