History Takes a Vacation -- Digging Up History

Northport Historical Society's History Takes a Vacation program continues with three fun and educational programs designed for students entering grades three through six. The final program this summer, "Digging Up History," will be on Thursday, August 23rd. Armed with metal detectors and shovels, students will have the opportunity to search for pieces of our past on the property of one of Northport's historic homes. This unique program will introduce attendees to the science of metal detection and how it is used to learn more about history.

The cost for the program is $20 per day for Society members and $25 per day for non-members; sign up for all three days for $50 for members and $65 for non-members. Space is very limited, so pre-registration is required by August 16th. Register at the Northport Historical Society, located at 215 Main Street in the village of Northport, or by calling 631-757-9859 x302.
