Critically-acclaimed author Caroline Bock will speak about and sign her new book, "Lie," at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16, at Book Revue.

Based on true events, "Lie" is a powerful story about love, loss, and betrayal. Seventeen-year-old Skylar Thompson is being questioned by the police. Her boyfriend, Jimmy, stands accused of brutally assaulting two young El Salvadoran immigrants from a neighboring town, and she’s the prime witness. Skylar is keeping quiet about what she’s seen, but how long can she keep it up?

Meanwhile, Jimmy's accomplice, Sean, is facing his own moral quandary. He's out on bail and has been offered a plea in exchange for testifying against Jimmy. Sean must decide whether or not to turn on his friend, in order to save himself. But most importantly, both Sean and Skylar must figure out why they followed someone like Jimmy in the first place.

Bock is the co-author with her sister of the critically-acclaimed memoir, "Confessions of a Carb Queen," which was optioned by Sony Television. A contributor to an upcoming nonfiction work, Bock is a graduate with honors from Syracuse University, where she studied creative writing with Raymond Carver, among other notable writers, and is currently an MFA candidate in fiction at City College in Manhattan. Prior to focusing on her writing, Bock headed the marketing and public relations departments at Bravo and IFC TV.

All books signed at Book Revue events must be purchased at Book Revue. If you purchase your book at Book Revue in advance of the event, please save your receipt and bring it with you to the event.
