Northport Board of Ed Trustee Madden Resigns

Effective Friday, November 5, trustee Tim Madden is no longer a part of the board.

Northport School Board Trustee Tim Madden has resigned, effective Friday, November 5.

NorthportPatch.com was unable to reach Madden, but the office of Clerk Beth Nystrom confirmed that he did submit his resignation because he is moving out of the school district boundaries.

Madden, elected in May 2009,  ran for the school board as a supporter of full-day kindergarten and continued to push for that while he was on the board.

His three-year-term erm was set to expire in 2012.

The sitting board has several options following Madden's departure, according to Nystrom's office. It can stay as an eight-member board, as it did when former Board President Arlene Munson resigned in January, or it could vote to appoint a board member.
