Bellerose Music Teacher Suing For Defamation
Bellerose Avenue Elementary music teacher Rebecca Posteraro alleges that Northport-East Northport School District staff sullied her name in retaliation for comments she made to Newsday.
Past music teacher is suing the for defamation and unfair termination, and seeking backpay, damages, and an expungement of the district's actions from her teaching record, as reported by Matt Dunning of Business Insurance.
The lawsuit, filed in a Brooklyn federal district court on Oct. 14, alleges that Posteraro was retaliated against and for comments she made to Newsday in February about her decision to stay at a school play despite breaking her leg.
Posteraro had taught in the district for three years after serving as a student teacher in Northport, and was up for tenure before she was in May.
