32nd Annual Football Booster Club Awards Handed Out

The club looked back on a season which saw the varsity team return to the playoffs for the first time in 19 years.

The Northport Tigers Football Booster Club held its 32nd annual awards banquet Friday at at which club president Rich Hall acted as emcee.

At the banquet, the club members expressed their appreciation to the team coaches, players, cheerleaders and district staff including Superintendent Marylou McDermott, high school Principal Irene McLaughlin and Athletic Director Drew Cronin.

They also thanked the N, the , the and for hosting game-day breakfasts throughout the season.

A special thanks went out to Sam Patrone, former Booster Club president, and Brian Brady of for sponsoring the "Lights on for Charity" game, which allowed the club to raise money for Autism Speaks and for the Vicki Preston Scholarship Fund. Preston, a former member of the club and parent of a player, was killed in a car accident earlier this year.

Also thanked were Judy Johnson of Bunny's Floral for her donation of flowers for the Mums for Moms Day event, Christine Monahan for video production, Heidi O'Gara for production of the banquet program and Joe Fortuna for printing the program.

"The primary objective of the Northport Tigers Football Booster Club is to support and enhance the football program," according to the program. "We do this by offering activities such as the pasta dinners, the varsity breakfasts, the beach bonfire, the painting of the paws, Homecoming, Mums for Moms, the banquet dinner and senior scholarships."

Among the awards given out were the Dave "Pop" Campbell Memorial Trophy given to the most valuable player. This year it went to Lucas Vallas.

Offensive MVP award went to Jesse Ferraro and the Defensive MVP award went to Jack Delahunty.

Also recognized were those players who achieved individual Suffolk County Football Coaches Association awards.

They were:  All-County: Lucas Vallas and Jack Delahunty

All Division, 1st Team: Jack Delahunty, Jesse Ferraro, Perry Marinelli, Lucas Vallas and Connor Walsh

All Division, 2nd Team: Donovan Devaney, Kyle Fortuna, John Laurine

National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete Award: Connor Walsh

The Booster Club Award went to Collin Olander.

Also at the banquet, Head Coach Kip Lukralle was lauded for his 25 years of coaching.
