2 Bellerose Students Take Top Prize in BNL Science Fair

BNL scientists judged the annual elementary school science fair.

Two students won first place at their grade level in the Brookhaven National Laboratory's Elementary School Science Fair.

Isabella DeBrino, a third grader, submitted a project called "Weather the Weather." Peyton Schilling, in first grade, submitted a project called “Gluten Free Paper Mache: For Kids With Celiac That Want to Play.”

The fair drew 550 entries from 118 Suffolk County schools.

The laboratory’s Office of Educational Programs coordinated the fair, which was held on May 7 and attended by hundreds of students, parents, and teachers.

Brookhaven Lab scientists and local elementary school teachers judged the projects.
