3RD GRADE BOYS-GOLD

Highlight: Northport gold team lost a tough game against Half Hollow Hills.
HHH gained the first face off and drove for the goal but was stopped by
goalie Ryan Brennan. HHH drove again and despite some good defensive moves by Angelo Prestipino and Jake Paustian HHH managed to score. A good defensive
pass up field by Ryan Wagner, then another quick pass for the shot which was
deflected by the goalie. A good attack move by Matthew Cruise managed to cause them to lose the ball. Tristian Triolo drove up the middle scoring Northport’s first goal. HHH pushed up and scored again. Bruce Peden got the ball and cut up the middle for a goal. A solid pass by Ryan Hutton and a good run up the side by Bryce Kuehn. Liam McKenna with the shot but was saved by the goalie. Bruce with a shot from the side for a goal. With Kyle Camenzuli and Max Kahane keeping the pressure on HHH, Northport took a last shot that went just wide.

The Northport 5th Grade White team extended its unbeaten streak in dramatic fashion on Sunday, April 29th when it tied visiting Plainview with 2 seconds remaining. With a final score of 8-8, the Tigers showed much grit and determination in a game of peaks and valleys. Jumping to a 4-1 lead, the
Tigers endured an onslaught of offense from a tough Plainview squad falling
behind 8-5 with less than a quarter to play. Led by a vocal Matt Fuggini and
the open field play by Liam Caulfield, the Tigers fought back in dramatic
fashion with the final roar coming from Anthony Locke as he stuck a much needed
"garbage goal" into the back of the net as time expired. Special mention goes out to the defense of Tim Giroux and riding of Tanner Lindvall. The 3-0-1 Tigers face Hicksville next at home at 12:15pm Sunday, May 6.
