Village Asks Residents to Skip Trick-or-Treat

Downed power lines, blocked roads are a source of concern.

Northport Village officials are urging parents to keep their children safe at home Wednesday instead of Trick or Treating.

Vast portions of Northport are still without power; streets are blocked by downed trees and power lines. Mayor George Doll is concerned for the safety of  residents and asked parents to keep children and teenagers home Wednesday night and every night, until the state of emergency has been lifted.

The Village and the Chamber of Commerce previously canceled the annual Halloween Safe Zone activities for the day.
