Survey to Help Disaster Planning

Huntington residents asked to complete questionnaire for countywide planning.

Huntington residents are asked to complete an online survey to help government agencies update their plans for dealing with natural disasters.

A key part of the planning process is determining how much residents already know about natural disaster issues. The survey helps gauge the level of knowledge, as well as seeking input from residents about areas vulnerable to any type of natural disaster. It consists of 21 questions, which should take less than 15 minutes to answer.

The committee will use the information to help coordinate activities to reduce the risk of injury or property damage in a future storm.

“Everyone can and needs to participate in planning to mitigate the effects of the next big storm,” Supervisor Frank Petrone said. “Completing this survey only takes a few minutes, but its results should provide an invaluable guide for the committee in deciding what type of measures they need to undertake to help residents prepare and to lessen damages.”

Residents can take the survey here. Residents can also obtain more information about disaster planning and the mitigation planning process by going to http://apps.suffolkcountyny.gov/RESPOND
