Spirit Award for a Mets Fan; Parade Time for D'Amaro

Spirit Award Goes to Steve Stern
Legis. Steve Stern (D-Huntington), was presented with the New York Mets “Spirit Award” at Half Hollow Hills Little League Day at Citi Field. In a pre-game ceremony, Stern was honored for his commitment to youth sports. In
addition to supporting a variety of sporting activities and Little Leagues throughout the 16th Legislative District, which includes North Babylon, Deer Park and the Tri-Community Little League, Stern is a Little League coach, and has worked with hundreds of children in our community, encouraging team work, athleticism and cooperation.
He's also a Mets fan.
D'Amaro Hoofs It
Legis. Lou D'Amaro, D-Huntington Station, joined other officials to march in the Huntington Manor Fire Department parade on Wednesday. Fire departments from around the area joined the march to Stimson school, where a fair was underway. The fair ends Saturday.
Spencer Takes On Pool Safety
Legis.William Spencer and Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone came to Huntington this week to announce a pool safety and consumer protection program. The initiative will professionalize the pool/spa industry by requiring minimum standards for those seeking to do installations and maintenance for residential consumers.
The initiative, authored by Spencer and signed by Bellone, creates a registry for pool maintenance businesses and expands the current home contractor’s license to include the installation and servicing of swimming pools and spas in Suffolk County.
School Supplies for Kids
Not that we're trying to rush the kids back to school, but...
Legis. Steve Stern is working is with Presiding Officer William Lindsay of the Suffolk County Legislature to supply more than 300 homeless children throughout Suffolk County with school essentials. Supplies can be dropped off at Stern’s district office, at 1842 E. Jericho Tpke., Huntington.
“I am asking our community o help collect school supplies because it is important for all children to start off the school year right. Please help this worthy cause by donating these much needed supplies,” Stern said.
