Raia Hopeful on LIPA Deal

Assemblyman says there's a price owed residents who live in the shadow of Northport power plant.

The Long Island Power Authority's tax assessment fight with the Town of Huntington could spike taxes for residents in the Northport-East Northport School District.

That hits home with Assemb. Andrew Raia, R-East Northport, who lives within the school district boundaries.

"I happen to be one of those residents," Raia said with a smirk before Tuesday's hurricane preparedness seminar at the Northport Public Library. "We have a longstanding agreement dating back to the inception of LIPA and the state has an obligation to live up to that."

Watch as Raia addresses whether a deal will be struck.
