A Northport man won tickets to attend the 2013 Presidential Inauguration along with 20 other Long Islanders, according to Newsday.
Walter Zurawsky, 55, will be able to bring one guest to the ceremony on Jan. 21 (Martin Luther King, Jr. Day) which is being held outside the nation's Capitol. The 2013 Inaugural Ceremonies theme, “Faith in America’s Future” commemorates the United States’ perseverance and marks the 150th anniversary of the placement of the Statue of Freedom atop the U.S. Capitol dome.
Zurawsky is Associate Provost for Graduate Academics, Department Head and Associate Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the Polytechnic Institute of New York University.
He is among 225 New Yorkers randomly selected to receive two tickets each after entering a statewide lottery held by the office of Sen. Charles Schumer, D-NY, chairman of the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies.
