Northport Public Hearings Set on Bamboo; Telecommunications Sys.

Residents can voice their thoughts and concerns on the issues Dec. 3.

Public hearings will be held Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. to discuss Northport Village’s proposed laws on bamboo control and telecommunications systems.

The bamboo controls in the village aim to protect private property from the damaging spread of certain bamboo grasses and protect indigenous plant materials from the spread of running bamboo. The law is similar to that, which was passed in Huntington.

If passed, running bamboo will be prohibited within the Village of Northport. If a resident is found in violation of the local law, he or she could be fined up to $1,000
