Northport Police Blotter: Suspicious People, Loud Arguments and More

Incidents from the Northport Police Department records in the week of Nov. 24 through Dec. 2.

Northport Police received a report of a possibly intoxicated driver Tuesday, Nov. 30 at 6:44 p.m. in a blue Hummer near Route 25A and Main Street. Police found the vehicle and observed it operating in an erratic manner. Police subsequently stopped the vehicle and interviewed the driver, a 33-year-old Maple Avenue woman. They found her to be suffering from extremely low blood sugar. She ingested some sugar to correct the problem and contacted her husband for a ride home.

A 45-year-old Maple Avenue woman called police Tuesday at 2:25 p.m. to report a car illegally parked at Dogwood Road and Dick Court, blocking the crosswalk. The vehicle was gone upon police arrival.

Police received a call Sunday at 7:43 p.m. regarding the possible overdose of a 16-year-old female. 's rescue squad responded and transported her to Huntington Hospital.

Police received a call Sunday at 1:31 a.m. from a 54-year-old Ward Avenue man who reported that his ex-girlfriend was in his house and he didn't want her in the house. Police interviewed the subject and found that the girlfriend had moved out of the house Saturday and only came back to get more of her belongings. Police stood by to maintain the peace while she did so. Police also suggested she do so in the future at a more reasonable hour.

A 77-year-old Bayview resident called police Friday at 10:41 a.m. to report that a nearby homeowner was having trees trimmed without a permit. Police spoke with the tree company personnel who stated they were not removing trees.

A 58-year-old Ward Avenue resident called police Thursday at 10:12 p.m. to report that her driveway was blocked by her neighbor's car. Police responded and found the car had been moved out of the way.

A 47-year-old Burr Avenue woman came in to police headquarters Thursday at 7:42 p.m. to report that she believed some time between then and 10 p.m. her husband would be driving drunk with her kids in the car. She wanted police to stop her husband for driving while intoxicated. Police told her that the department neeeded more information than mere suspicion to stop her husband if he was observed driving. The woman became angry and asked, "Can't you just do this for me?" before leaving and telling police to "forget it."

A 48-year-old Stanton Street man called police Thursday at 6:32 p.m. to report a "gaunt middle-aged white male" dressed in black and walking in a suspicious manner. The caller stated the suspicious man was also carrying a large hibiscus plant and thought it was suspicious that the man with the plant did not look at the caller or acknowledge his presence. Police were unable to locate the man.

A caller reported to police Thursday at 5:16 a.m. that a male was in the middle of Main Street yelling. Police found a 23-year-old man who stated he was yelling at himself. The man agreed to stop yelling and proceeded to his home, also on Main Street, without further incident.

A 44-year-old Goldenrod Avenue, Northport woman called police Wednesday at 8:07 p.m. to report a male subject shoving a package in to a mailbox in the King Kullen shopping center. Police found no obvious signs of tampering.

A 44-year-old Belknap Drive, Northport man called police Wednesday at 4:43 p.m.  to report a loud argument going in an apartment on Main Street. Police found a 43-year-old man having an argument with his 14-year-old stepson. Both parties agreed to stop yelling and talk about their disagreement instead.
