Israel to Meet with Post Office Officials

Congressman, village, town officials meet with USPS reps Friday.

Northport and Huntington officials will meet at Congressman Steve Israel's office on Friday to discuss plans for the Northport Post Office with USPS representatives. The meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m.

"They said that they were looking at it as an informational meeting, basically to let us know about what their procedures are for public information and how they proceed on these things," Northport Deputy Mayor Henry Tobin said Wednesday. "We certainly have a lot of information we're looking to get. We want to understand the details of what they expect to get out of any change in their operations."

Northport Trustee Damon McMullen, Deputy Mayor Henry Tobin, Village Attorney Jim Matthews, Town Councilman Mark Cuthbertson, and Congressman Steve Israel will attend the meeting.
