Help for Those Struggling With Foreclosure

Free April 5 clinic to tackle mortgage, bankruptcy problems.

A mortgage foreclosure and bankruptcy clinic is scheduled April 5 at Touro Law School, Suffolk County Legislator Steve Stern said.

The Huntington Democrat said the clinic is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Touro Law Center, 225 Eastview Drive, Central Islip. The free clinic will cover legal housing, mortgage assistance, and bankruptcy.

Homeowners whose property sustained damage from Super Storm Sandy, are behind on mortgage payments, are facing foreclosure, or are struggling with credit card debt, will be able to meet with attorneys and law students from Touro Law Center, housing counselors, bank representatives and individuals from not-for-profit agencies, who will provide advice and assistance to homeowners.

“I encourage homeowners to take advantage of this opportunity to receive free assistance from the Touro MF&B Clinic,” Legislator Stern said.  “No one should have to navigate the foreclosure process alone.”
