Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy will join with Northport Mayor George Doll, Jr., and Village Trustees Monday morning to announce that Northport has become the first village in Suffolk to join the Long Island Purchasing Consortium -- a regional effort rolled out by Levy at the start of this year to create regional buying power for common goods and services that could be purchased cooperatively by municipalities, schools and not-for-profit agencies.
The village board passed a resolution on November 4 to join the consortium; County Executive Levy and Mayor Doll will sign a ceremonial agreement at 10:30 press conference on November 8.
