Edwards Takes Town Board Seat

Tracey Edwards took her position Tuesday as the newest member of the Town Board and strengthening the Democratic majority.

The board passed numerous resolutions, most unanimously, though independent Gene Cook dissented occasionally.  Members took turns bantering with Huntington gadfly Daniel Karpen about ownership of the fish in Heckscher Park pond, heard concerns about video slots proposed for Plainview and took steps to increase the use of town parks by leashed dogs.

Edwards won her seat in November by defeating Republican Mark Mayoka.

Patch will have more on the meeting later.
