Downed Tree Leaves 3,000 Without Power in Northport

Nearly all power is now restored in the area.

A tree fell over on Dickinson Avenue in East Northport Wednesday morning, leaving about 3,000 Long Island Power Authority customers without electricity.

According to a report in Newsday, most power had been restored by 10 a.m., but  less than 20 residents were still without power as of 11: 30 a.m. on the road, which runs between Elwood Road and Laurel Road.

It is not yet clear what caused the tree to topple.
