Candidates Forum Set for Oct. 29

Congressional, state candidates invited to participate.

The League of Women Voters of Huntington, and Leadership Huntington are sponsoring a Meet The Candidates Night on Oct. 29.

All candidates on the ballot running for the 3rd Congressional District, State Senate 2nd and 5th Districts, and state Assembly 10th and 12th Districts, have been invited.

"The Meet the Candidates Night gives the audience a real  opportunity to see and hear from the candidates and become educated and informed voters," said Judie Gornstein of the League of Women Voters. "Too often today, people are getting misinformation or disinformation."

The event will be held at the Harborfields Public Library in Greenlawn, beginning at 6 p.m.

Candidates who have agreed to participate are Third Congressional District candidates Michael McDermott and  Anthony Tolda, Fifth State Senate candidates, incumbent Carl Marcellino and challenger David Wright, and10th Assembly candidates Chad Lupinacci and Joe Dujmic.

Each will give opening remarks, answer questions posed by league and submitted by audience on index cards and read by the moderator, and then give closing statements. The candidates are not given the topics or questions that they will be asked.

Rep. Andrew Raia, R-Northport,  is running unopposed so he won't participate on the panel because the forum doesn't allow for an "empty chair" setup. But he will be available afterwards.

On the ballot for the Presidency, Gov. Gary Johnson (Libertarian) and Dr. Jill Stein (Green). Make a special note to remember to watch the Free and Equal Election Debate between third party candidates, Gov. Gary Johnson and Dr. Jill Stein to be aired tonight on Monday evening, Nov. 5th from 9:00 - 10:30 pm Eastern Time. Perform a worthwhile civic duty, and be certain to listen in on this historic debate so that you can make an informed decision on voting day. Third party candidates who will be on the ballot in most states deserve to be heard. http://freeandequal.org/?v=1
