Asharoken Changes Polling Sites

With Village Hall flooded, residents will vote at Eaton's Neck Fire Department on Election Day.

Asharoken Village residents have a new polling site for Election Day Tuesday.

The storm surge that did so much damage along Asharoken Ave. also flooded Village Hall, the polling site for District 164.

Suffolk Board of Elections announced the Eaton’s Neck Fire Department at 55 Eatons Neck Road will serve as the polling center instead.

“Working in cooperation with the State Board of Elections, the Governor’s office and local municipalities, we are currently assessing the situation regarding the accessibility of our polling places,” the Board of Elections said in a statement.

Asharoken Village Hall suffered several inches of flooding, according to Village Clerk Nancy Rittenhouse. Floors and carpet have been removed to dry out the building.

In fact, the Village Board of Trustees meeting scheduled for Monday at 7:30 p.m. has been moved to the Northport American Legion hall at 7 Woodside Ave.
