Asharoken Village Clerk Nancy Rittenhouse will serve double duty as interim tax assessor until the end of the fiscal year.
Rittenhouse was appointed to fill the position, vacant since July, on Jan. 22 and will serve until May 31. A full time assessor will then be appointed at that time.
As assessor, she will work with the Town of Huntington to update the village assessment roll and notify residents of any changes. The assessment figure will be factored into the 2013-2014 budget to determine the tax rate.
