Suffolk Police: Theft at Local Dairy Barns, Missing Halloween Decorations, DWI, and More

The following arrests were made and incidents reported by Suffolk County police officers between October 18 through October 25.

The following information is taken from from the Suffolk County Police Department's crime blotter. None of the defendants have been convicted of a crime, but were arrested for the charges listed below. A criminal charge is only an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The following arrests were made between Oct. 18-25:

Arrests:

  • Nicole Huffman, of Northport, was arrested on Oct. 24 and charged with leaving the scene of an accident and failing to provide a driver's license in Northport.
  • Matthew Sullivan and Jonathan Valle, both of East Northport, were arrested in Northport on Oct. 19 and charged with criminal trespassing in the third degree for trespassing at Northport High School.
  • Daniel Stasichin, of East Northport, was arrested and charged on Oct. 25 for operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content in excess of .08 in East Northport. First offense.
  • William Claytor, of Fort Salonga, was arrested and charged in East Northport for operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content in excess of .08 on Oct. 21. First offense.
  • Dorothy Kammerer, of East Northport, was arrested and charged in East Northport on Oct. 21 for leaving the scene of an accident.
  • Matthew Veltre, of East Northport, was arrested and charged with menacing in the second degree for pointing a can of mace on Oct. 21 in East Northport.
  • Timothy Schaefer, of Huntington, was arrested and charged in Elwood for DWI on Oct. 19. First offense.
  • Michael Cronin, of East Northport, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree for possession of cocaine with intent to sell in East Northport on Oct. 19
  • Ryan OGorman, of Kings Park, was arrested in East Northport and charged with loitering and possession of cocaine with intent to sell on Oct. 19.
  • James LeBlanc, of East Northport, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content in excess of .08 in East Northport on Oct. 18. First offense.
  • James Lawless, of Northport, was arrested and charged in Smithtown with criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree on Oct. 21.
  • Nicholas Zacharia, of East Northport, was arrested and charged with grand larceny 4 in Huntington on Oct. 18.

The following incidents were reported to the Suffolk County Police Department between Oct. 19-26:.

  • A Fort Salonga Road resident in Northport reported that someone had stolen checks from her checkbook sometime after Oct. 15.
  • A woman reported that jewelry worth $3000 had been stolen from her Martingale Gate residence in Fort Salonga on Oct. 23.
  • A Bread and Cheese Hollow Road resident in Fort Salonga reported receiving harassing phone calls and text messages on Oct. 18.
  • On Oct. 19, a woman on Scudder Avenue in Northport reported receiving unwanted and annoying emails. The case was closed due to its non-criminal nature.
  • Police responded to a report on Oct. 26 that someone had pried open the side door of the Dairy Barn on Fort Salonga Road in East Northport and stolen cigarettes.
  • A man reported on Oct. 26 that someone had stolen cigarettes, candy, and money from the Dairy Barn on East Jericho Turnpike in Elwood.
  • A Bellrose Avenue resident in East Northport reported that his 2000 Honda Civic had been stolen on Oct. 26.
  • Police received a report of someone having made graffiti on the playground at the Fifth Avenue School in East Northport sometime between Oct. 22 and 25.
  • A Bellecrest Avenue woman in East Northport reported receiving harassing phone calls on Oct. 25.
  • On Oct. 25 a man reported that someone had broken the rear window of Barry's Saddle and Repair on Larkfield Road in East Northport.
  • A Deposit Road resident in East Northport reported that someone had broken the driver's side window of his car sometime during Oct. 25.
  • A Larkfield Road resident in East Northport reported receiving harassing phone calls on Oct. 23.
  • A 9th Avenue resident in East Northport reported damage to his driver's side door on Oct. 25.
  • A Brennan Street woman in Elwood reported that someone had damaged her car sometime between Oct. 19 and 24.
  • An Andiron Court resident in East Northport reported that a security gate had been damaged by a delivery truck on Oct. 22.
  • An East Northport woman reported that someone had stolen the Halloween decorations from the lawn of her Clover Lane home on Oct. 20.
