Suffolk Police Plan Holiday Weekend Crackdown on DWIs, BWIs

Drunk drivers targeted: Police to patrol land, sea and air for BWI and DWI offenders over the Memorial Day weekend.

Suffolk County Police say they plan a crackdown on those who drive a vehicle or boat while intoxicated crackdown plan for this holiday weekend.

 “The Suffolk County Police Department is doing everything possible to keep residents safe during the holiday weekend,” Suffolk Police Commissioner Richard Dormer said in a statement Tuesday. “We will arrest anyone who is under the influence behind the wheel of a vehicle or boat.”  

Authorities will be patrolling for DWI and BWI offenders on Suffolk roads and waterways and will also utilize police helicopters to spot potential DWI offenders from the air, according to a police.

“To help ensure the safety of all residents, Suffolk Police will be out in full force on the roads, by boat and in the air,” said Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy.
