Suffolk Police Incidents: Statue Damaged; Attempted Burglary

Incidents reported in the second precinct, June 28-July 8.

The following incidents were reported in the Suffolk Police second precinct between June 29 and July 8.

  • A man reported being followed by a car on Turkey Lane in Huntington as he drove home from a friend's house. A man from the other car stopped in traffic then opened his door and pushed him, knocking a drink from his hand.
  • A butterfly affixed to a memorial statue on Prime Avenue in Huntington was stolen.
  • A man driving a White Mustang was approached by another man on New Street in Huntington who was yelling and hit and broke the passenger window.
  • Someone broke a rear window and attempted to knock in the door of a Longwood Drive residence in South Huntington while no one was home. Nothing appeared to have been taken.
  • Someone stole three pairs of sunglasses from Sunglass Hut in Walt Whitman Mall.
  • A woman was approached by four other females on Tower Street in Huntington Station. One of the woman yelled at and threatened her.
  • Someone destroyed a mailbox on Beverly Road in Huntington Station.
  • Someone punched a woman in the face outside a house party on Depot Road. She also lost her cellphone and suspected the same person picked it up.
