Resident says Northport collision along Waterside Road Monday afternoon second incident in week.

Two SUVs collided along a hairpin section of Waterside Road just north of Seaside Court in Northport on Monday afternoon, sending three people to Huntington Hospital, said.

The accident took place at approximately 5:10 p.m. when the southbound vehicle, a Subaru, lost control on wet roadway coming around the bend and skidded into oncoming traffic, police said. The Subaru was broadsided.

Names of those involved were not immediately available. Both vehicles were towed.

A homeowner who was first on the scene said he turned car ignitions off, attended to the injured and called police. Injuries were not deemed life-threatening, according to an officer at the scene.

"It's this road, it's this turn," said Randy Rowe, who lives along Waterside. "When it's wet cars lose it."

Rowe said the collision was the second incident in a week along Waterside, citing a sports car which lost control at Seaside and crashed into the woods.

"I put up a sign in the summer," said Valerie Rowe, who has two children. "It says, 'Drive like your kids live here.' And it works. It slows them down."

The Rowes would like to see a stop sign somewhere between Norwood and Eatons Neck roads.

Monday's accident diverted traffic along Waterside for an hour.
