Police: E. Northport Woman Behind BB Gun Spree

Arrest tied to 60 incidents of damaged car windows throughout Suffolk.

An East Northport woman faces child endangerment and criminal mischief charges after Suffolk County Police say she drove three teenagers through neighborhoods and encouraged them to shoot out car windows with BB guns.

Susan Becker, 43, was arrested Friday by Fourth Precinct officers and linked to more than 60 instances of damaged car windows over a two-week period from Islandia and Hauppauge to Commack.

She was the driver while her 13-year-old son, 15-year-old daughter and another 15-year-old male fired BB guns, police said. Becker bought the weapons and then encouraged the teens to fire on parked cars, police allege.

Perfect Neighborhood Watch director James Semon in Hauppauge heard about incidents related to a pellet gun and sent a note to members April 12 asking them to stay on alert.

"A member is reporting car windows shot out, mid numbers Autumn Drive, sometime last Monday evening," Semon said. "Surveillance cameras show a possible mini-van, silver or white in color. One resident heard 'pops' as the incident occurred, possibly from a BB gun. Multiple police reports were made."

All of the Hauppauge incidents, logged on April 8, happened in the same general neighborhood, police said at the time.

Becker will be arraigned Saturday at First District Court in Central Islip on 11 counts of endangering the welfare of a child, 10 counts of fourth degree criminal mischief and third degree criminal mischief.
