Police: E. Northport Man Drove Drunk With Child in Car

Jose Bonilla, 38, is arrested on felony DWI charge late Tuesday night.

An East Northport man was arrested on New Year's Eve on a felony DWI charge after State Police say he was driving drunk with a child in his car.

According to police, Jose Bonilla, 38, was driving a Ford Explorer in Commack shortly before midnight when a state trooper saw the vehicle stopped at a red light at the intersection of Crooked Hill Road and Express Drive North.

When the light turned green, Bonilla "failed to proceed through the intersection," police said, and the trooper pulled over the Explorer.

An investigation determined that Bonilla was intoxicated and he was placed under arrested, police said.

The vehicle was also occupied by several members of Bonilla's family, including an 11-year-old child, police said.

Bonilla is charged with felony DWI under Leandra's Law. He was arraigned Wednesday in First District Court in Central Islip and is being held on $15,000 cash bail or $45,000 bond.

I am curious about how you know where he is a legal or illegal immigrant, if he even is an immigrant. I really don't want to ask how you know how often this guy showers. I'm sure the answer is undoubtedly creepy.

So you are saying(with way too many words) that you have no proof, and are just assuming. Also, I stopped being bothered by people calling me Dick when I was in the 4th grade. Cause that's who does that. 4th graders.

And Brian, are you a 40+ year old acting like a racist 4th grader? Do you have anything and everything against the people in your town? Your writing is so eloquent. Please leave this town. There are many people who do in fact, get in their cars, and drive to a temple. In fact, many people also voted for Obama, maybe even one of your neighbors! Surprising, huh. This may come as a bigger surprise. New York is one of the most diverse states in the US. To answer your question, you're cold. Ice cold. What this guy did was wrong, no doubt about it. But please take your ignorance to a different place, like maybe Alabama.

All your posts seem to assert that no Hispanics have ever entered this country legally. Do you honestly believe that? Why is it so impossible for you to consider he might have grown up here? You say "take a look at the guy." I'm not sure what that proves. He would look exactly the same, no matter where he was born. The physical location where a person is born does not play a part in how they look. Then you try to quibble over what it takes to be able to say someone is an "East Northport man." By your definition, a nice friendly white guy could move to East Northport at the age of 19, live there until his death at the age of 99, and he could never be able to say he is an East Northport man. "Keep it simple"....next time you want to keep it simple, when someone asks you a simple, specific question about your proof behind a claim, just answer the actual question, instead of jumping into a rambling biased State of the Union that is low on facts and high on propaganda all while not even answering the question you respond to. And that's all the time I have for people like you.

Brian Wallace, I hope your ancestors were Native American because I would hate to think they may have come from another country and settled here. Unless that is acceptable to you because it wasn't Mexico. Though I have a feeling you may be racist towards a lot more then just Mexicans. Hate to break the news to you, but you live in NY, a very diverse state..beware, they are mixing and breeding!

As classy as that sounds, please do not presume negative experiences on people and they will not force them onto you.
