Northport Police Report: Yelling at Cars; Storm Damage

Incidents Aug. 9-12.

The following was taken from the Northport Police Department blotter.

  • A man was reported walking subject yelling and stopping cars along Woodbine Avenue on Aug. 10. The man told a police officer that he was trying to find his way back to his residence at the Northport VA Hospital and the police officer told him the way. The man was then spotted again along Fort Salonga Road around midnight yelling and walking in front of traffic. The police officer observed him to be intoxicated and escorted him back to the VA.
  • The front bumper and grill were ripped off a woman's car parked on Main Street due to a thunder storm that caused massive flood waters to rush down the road on Aug. 10 at 2:20 p.m.
  • A man's car window was blown out while it was parked in front of his house during a thunderstorm on Aug. 10 between 2 and 6 p.m. on 5th Ave.
  • A police officer responded to a possible intoxicated subject trying to start a fight on Aug. 11 at 5 p.m. on Beach Avenue. Upon arrival, the officer observed the above people having a verbal dispute and defused the situation.
  • A police officer responded to a report of loud music on Main Street on Aug. 12 at 3 a.m. and to check on the welfare of the resident. The caller said that the same song has been playing on the resident's stereo since 7 p.m., and said the resident has never done anything like that before and she was concern that something happened to him. The officer was unable to get a response by knocking on the door or yelling through the window and forced entry through a rear window to find the resident sleeping on his bed. Interview with resident revealed that he had been drinking and this likely contributed to the difficulty in getting a response at his door and window.
