The following was taken from the Northport Police crime blotter. An arrest does not indicate a conviction as all persons are presumed innocent until and if proven guilty in a court of law.
- A Scudder Avenue woman reported an incident involving a voodoo doll on Dec. 26. The woman said that five people have been pushing pins into a voodoo doll causing her pain. She also said the subjects have also been squeezing the air out of the doll which has been making it difficult for her to breathe and also causing pain to her ribs. The woman doesn't know any other information about the subjects with the voodoo doll. She was satisfied with the filing of the report for informational purposes only.
- Adam Arbeit, 35, of Centerport was arrested on Woodbine Avenue on Dec. 29 and charged with criminal possession of marijuana, unreasonable speed, and failure to stop at a stop sign. Albeit was allegedly observed driving northbound down Woodbine at an unreasonable speed and failed to make a complete stop at a posted stop sign at the intersection of Beach Avenue. A strong odor of marijuana emanated from the car as the police officer approached and Arbeit allegedly admitted to possessing a marijuana pipe which was recovered from the center console. After a search of the car, the officer reportedly recovered 22 bags of marijuana from the center console weighing over 25 grams.
- A group of people reportedly drove up to a Nautilus Avenue homeowner's house on New Year's Eve, hit the mailbox with a bat, pulled up all the Christmas decorations, and threw them on the lawn. A Rutledge Avenue homeowner's mailbox was also damaged in a similar fashion on the same night.
- Someone reportedly broke into a Burr Avenue man's Audi and pickup truck on New year's Eve, stealing a pair of sunglasses, reading glasses, and a white straw "Justin" cowboy hat from the Audi at a total value of $530.
