Northport Police Report: Burglary; Late Night Arguments

Incidents and arrests, Dec. 22 to 26.

The following information was taken from the Northport Police Department blotter. Where an arrest is mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

  • Stephen Pergolizzi, 25, of Northport was arrested on Dec. 22 and charged with third degree burglary and third degree criminal mischief after he allegedly stole $1938 in cash from a Laurel Avenue business. Pergolizzi was allegedly observed on security camera footage entering the office and searching numerous desk drawers around 10:30 p.m. He then left and returned with tools which he used to partially pry open a portion of a safe located on a shelf. After he was unable to break into the safe he threw it to the ground before finally leaving. The safe, which contained $2600, was damaged.
  • A sick raccoon was reported on Main Street on Dec. 21. Police located the animal on the side of the road and disposed of it.
  • Police interviewed a young man on Laurel Avenue Dec. 21 who was reportedly overheard talking about selling drugs. He was found to be in possession of two prescription medication bottles for which he was prescribed, though each bottle had substantially less than the amount prescribed.
  • A woman in Main Street reported on Dec. 22 that someone had struck the driver's side mirror of her parked car and shattered the glass.
  • Several youths were reportedly throwing things off a building around Constitution Square and on the night of Dec. 23. When police arrived they determined that the kids were only throwing water and nothing was damaged. The group was dispersed.
  • The body of missing Northport resident Freddie Piercey was found in the water near the shoreline of Northport Harbor at 9:09 a.m. on Dec. 24.
  • An unknown person scraped the back passenger side of someone's parked car on Burr Avenue on Christmas.
  • A loud argument was reported outside on Dec. 26 at 3:44 in the morning. When police arrived, a man said that he and two of his friends had an argument with several people inside Gunther's that continued out in the street. 
  • A homeowner on Ocean Avenue reported that an unknown person drive onto his lawn on Dec. 26, causing damage to both the lawn and the fence.
